VORTEX SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

In 1999, Vortex Pump LLC purchased the Vortex progressive cavity pump line from Tarby. The pump company's sole purpose was to improve the existing line and to market it only after substantial engineering design improvements were made.

The changes for improving the Tarby progressive cavity pump line which required 2 years of research, were made substantially in three areas. The first area was the tank itself. A new tank was developed using 3 PE injection molded pieces and HDPE DR 32.5 pipe. The pump platform and tank bottom are now butt fused to sections of PE pipe. Anyone familiar with PE piping systems will know that the new fused construction of the tank will provide the user with a long life of infiltration free service.

The second area of improvement is the removal of electronic or mechanical controls from the pump core housing. The only items in the condensation area of the buried tank are the motor, capacitor and the automatic overheat reset on the motor. All electronic controls of the probe and contactor are now in the control box. There is no need to put pressure switches in the core as Vortex uses a probe to sense liquid levels in the tank.

The third area of improvement and redesign is in the pump core housing. With the exception of the motor mount the housing is now made with injection molded PVC parts. All joints between PVC parts are made with

joints that conform to appropriate schedule 40 ASTM's. The joint seal between the PVC housing and the motor mount is accomplished with two redundant O-Rings. Quality Control is exemplified in the meticulous testing of the VORTEX components, separately, as well as the finished system, prior to shipping.

VORTEX people take a personal approach to service, doing more by addressing its customers problems as its own. Sales and engineering personnel are always available for consultation, far beyond the time of sale.
